Don made a website called “Don’s Life in Thailand” that became a reference guide for lots of folks who thought about traveling to Thailand.
In his own words, Don
retired in July, 2007, and moved to Thailand (Land of Smiles) in August. [He] lived in Chiang Mai. It is the largest city in Northern Thailand (hill country). The city itself is very charming, with a moat and city walls still standing around the old part of the city. It has its own distinct culture, including language, cuisine, music and clothing.
There are several Universities and Colleges here. Because of its beauty and size, and the absence of the hussle and bussle of Bangkok, over 17,000 westerners choose to live in Chiang Mai. Westerners are called “Farangs”. This is the same as being a “Haole” in Hawaii.
After the website hosting was not renewed, and his domain finally came up for purchase, his domain is now being recreated to honor Don and others like him who dream of living in the Land of Smiles.
You can find Don’s information on the Wayback Machine (Internet Archive) in the link above. There may be a cap on how much you can view every day, but it’s better than nothing.
