Chiang Mai National Museum
is the Main regional museum of the north. The fine Arts Department has
assigned this Museum to be the Centre of Education and Preservation of Art
and Culture of Chiang Mai and Upper Northern Thailand, the Old Lan Na
Address: On Superhighway 11.

Open 9.00 a.m. – 04.00 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday.  Closed on : Monday,
Tuesday and National Holidays.

The Hill Tribe Museum
A visit to the Tribal Museum is strongly recommended as an introduction to the
cultures and practices of the current hill tribes of northern Thailand. This
museum serves as an extensive resource center for the tribal cultures,

Dhara Phirom Palace Museum
This fantastic old building was originally the home of Princess Dara Rasamee,
daughter of the 7th Lord of Chiang Mai, consort of HM King Chulalongkorn
(Rama V). She was a key figure in maintaining cordial relations between the
Kingdom of Siam and the Kingdom of Lanna.
Address: Located in the Mae Rim Border Patrol Camp in Mae Rim.

Museum of World Insects and Natural Wonders
The museum is dedicated to inspiring curiosity, discovery and learning about the
natural world.  Investigate our specimens  as part of the record of life on earth,
and learn about the earth from the perspective of the vast, geologic time-scales
of these specimens.
Open daily from 9 5 p.m. but best to make an appointment ahead of time

Chiang Mai Numismatic Museum  (aka The Coin Museum)
This museum features a fascinating exhibition of antique Thai coins, insignia of
rank, and other artifacts from private collections.

Open Mondays to Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Wat Gate Museum
This temple features an eclectic collection of artifacts. One of the most
interesting art objects is an old Siamese 'White Elephant' flag. There is also a
collection of old phonographs going back more than 100 years to the era of teak
wallahs in Chiang Mai.
Located on Wat Ket Road off of Kaew Nawarat Road.
Open daily from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Admission is free.

Chiang Mai City Arts Bldg
After you watch the interesting English-subtitled orientation video about Chiang
Mai and northern Thailand. Then you can wander around  rooms documenting
the region's history and culture.

Chiang Mai University Art Museum
features rotating exhibits from students, lecturers and visiting artists. Always
something unique and interesting to be found here

Chiang Mai Air Museum
Standing close to Chiang Mai Airport, the city's Air Museum is often overlooked
and worth searching out. Containing a rather unexpected collection of WWII
planes and related paraphernalia, visitors to the museum are able to climb into a
number of the actual planes. The curators are always on hand to answer your
questions and film screenings provide further information about the planes if

Bank of Thailand Museum
At the Bank of Thailand Museum, northern region office, there is now a center of
information for both coinage and Tai textiles which is open to the public for the
